Seven Recruits For an Eight Day Week

*PERCENTAGES ADDED* Eight days to the February 1st football recruiting Signing Day, and Michigan has seven recruits remaining -- to fill 3-4 remaining scholarship spots. At least one more of U-M's very top recruits makes his decision this week ... and perhaps two more will settle on their final choice by Friday as well. Here is the latest on all seven -- how many will add to the current Michigan class of 17? You can bet the Michigan coaching staff will be working "Eight Days a Week" on it ...

In approximate order of when final decisions may be made:

Steve Schilling OL 6'4 290 Bellevue Washington.'s #12 prospect is down to three schools: Michigan, Washington, Cal, having dropped USC yesterday. He may announce one more 'cut' before picking his school on Friday. GBW believes U-M has a good chance to make the next 'cut'.

McKenzie Mathews DE 6'2 240, Christian Brothers Academy, Syracuse, N.Y. Michigan and Boston College may be his final two, over Pitt. We'll see if he waits to announce his decision.

Jonas Mouton S 6'2 212 4.50 Venice California.'s #48 prospect. Mouton visited Texas this past weekend, adding Longhorns to his U-M and USC finalists. He might wait to announce until Signing Day. GBW is holding firm to the belief that U-M is in a strong position with Jonas.

DL/OL Jason Kates 6'2 320 4.97 Harrisburg Bishop McDevitt Pa. He may have U-M and Maryland as his final two (over Minnesota and Syracuse), and he might hold off on his decision until Signing Day.

Adam Patterson DE 6'3 262 4.65 Columbia Richland Northeast South Carolina.'s #33 East prospect. He has not tipped his hand as to his leader, and has a final visit this weekend to Auburn. His others: U-M, Tennessee, South Carolina, NC-State.

Daron Rose OL 6'5 290 5.00 Tampa Jefferson Florida.'s #42 Southeast prospect. U-M has been in a strong position with Daron, but his other favorite, FSU, gets a visit this weekend -- the Seminole's biggest recruiting weekend every year.

(Jan. 27 official visit) Corey Peters DT 6'3 280 4.8 Louisville Central Kentucky. James McKinney's 'cousin' visits U-M this weekend. He has also been to Louisville, Kentucky, Auburn and Ohio State. U-M could be in a strong position here.
