Six-foor-four, 285-pound offensive John Elliott from East Meadow, N.Y., a potential Top 100 2006-07 prospect (and no relation to Jumbo Elliott), has recently heard from Michigan. So GoBlueWolverine spoke with him last (Thursday) night.
We hear you have a Michigan offer now?
"Yes, Michigan offered me a scholarship."
What is your list of schollies now?
Syracuse, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Rutgers ... there are a few other as well (ed. note: Ole Miss, Maryland, Temple).
Have you been to the University of Michigan?
"Yes. I was over to Michigan once, last year, in the summer. It was for a Junior Day last summer (the last week of July)."
And what did you think?
"I think Michigan is a great place. I got to see whole town, and liked it. And Michigan is definitely big time football, as well as outstanding academically."
Are you going to make it to any Junior Days this winter?
"I'm going on Saturday to Virginia, and to Maryland."
How about spring combines or summer camps?
"No combines, but I'm going to go to some summer camps -- I'm not sure which ones. Michigan is definitely a good possibility."
Do you have a list of favorites?
"I'm really trying to keep things open and see what offers come in."
Do you see yourself as a guard or a tackle in college?
"I play offensive tackle now, on my high school team. In college I could go either way ... whatever my team needs."
