Brother Rice Duo Gets Offered at Junior Day

Two of the top instate juniors are from Birmingham Brother Rice -- and both were in attendance at the Michigan Junior Day. GoBlueWolverine spoke last (Thursday) night to one of the duo, linebacker Chris Colasanti. *With action photos*

Chris Colasanti is a 6-foot-2, 225-pound inside linebacker from Birmingham Brother Rice. He told us:

"Yes I was at the Michigan Junior Day. Darris (OL Darris Sawtelle) and I were both there. Coach Carr offered us both scholarships during the visit. Coach Carr met with me in his office and offered me, and he did the same with Darris."

Are you going to go to any other junior days?

"Yes. I plan to go to junior days at Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, and my dad and I are flying out to Stanford too."

Have all of these schools offered you a scholarship?

"All except Penn State."

Do you have a list of favorites? Is that the list?

"No, I wouldn't say I have a list at this time. I haven't been to any schools except for Michigan. I'll have to visit more schools first."

Have you been to U-M besides the Junior Day?

"Yeah, I've been to the Michigan Camp. Not last summer, but the summer before."

Are you going to any combines this spring?

"I'll go to the Ohio State Nike Combine; I went to the Michigan Nike Combine last summer. And I'll go to a Scout All-American combine."

How about Summer Camps?

"I'll talk to my dad about it. I think I'll go to the Notre Dame camp; we'll talk others I might go to."

As a junior middle linebacker, Colasanti recorded a whopping 153 tackles, four sacks and one interception last season and was named All-State, and All-Metro.

His 2005 U-M Nike camp stats: 6-1.5, 209, 4.99 sec, shuttle, 4.50 sec. shuttle, 28.0 inch vertical, 26 bench press reps of 185 lbs.

He described himself as a player this way to "If you asked the guys on my team I think they'd say I'm a leader," Colasanti said. "I'm not real outspoken. I try my best to lead by my actions instead of my words. They'd probably say that I'm intense. I think I'm a pretty good moving side to side, but I know I have to get my speed up. I'm good at shedding blocks and being a hard hitter."
