OLSM's Taurian Washington Has U-M Offer

Cornerback Dionte Allen is not the only Orchard Lake St. Mary's player coveted by Michigan. Wide receiver Taurian Washington has a Michigan offer as well.

GoBlueWolverine spoke Sunday to instate wide receiver Taurian Washington from Orchard Lake St. Mary's High School, located just 25 miles north of Ann Arbor. He was spotted at the January 28 Michigan Junior Day so we started out by asking him about that. "Yes, I was at the Michigan Junior Day. Me and Dionte (CB Dionte Allen) both went down there. It went well. Coach Campbell was the Michigan recruiter for Deporres (which closed down, and which is why many of their players, including Washington, are now at OLSM). So I've been talking to him ever since I've been at Deporres and I already knew him pretty well -- he's a nice guy."

Did Michigan offer you at Junior Day?

"Yeah, they offered me on that day."

What other schools have offered you?

"Purdue, Illinois, Penn State, Michigan State, and Iowa."

We've seen you listed at 6-0, 170 but you look bigger than that now. Do you have an accurate height/weight/40 time?

"I'm 6-2, 185 pounds ... and I run a 4.5 second 40."

Describe yourself as a player -- what are your strengths?

"I have great hands -- and my strength is my ability to go get the ball."

Do you have spring and summer plans?

"Me and Dionte will to down to Ann Arbor together for a Michigan practice this spring."

"As far as camps go, I went to the Michigan Camp last summer ... I might go to the Notre Dame Camp this summer."

So does Dionte talk to you about Michigan?

"Oh yeah, Dionte will always be talking to me about Michigan."

Do you have a timetable?

"Yeah ... I'll take some official visits after the season, but it has to be around playing basketball."

How many points per game are you averaging in hoops?

"I average about 8 points game ... Dionte and I kind've share one of the guard positions ... we're not really basketball players, we're football players!"

One more thing -- you grew up rooting for Ohio State?

"Yeah, that was kind of a Deporres thing -- we all kind've rooted for Ohio State over there."

Washington transferred to St. Mary's from St. Martin De Porres after his sophomore year. As a junior he had 25 receptions and scored 12 touchdowns.
