Oregon DT Looking For Challenge, Respect

Myles Wade is a huge and athletic Portland, Oregon defensive tackle who is looking to gain national respect.

Myles Wade is a 6-foot-2, 290-pound defensive lineman from Portland (Ore.) Benson Polytechnic who has run a 4.9 second 40, a 4.5 second shuttle and a 28-inch vertical jump, and has a 400-pound bench press. He told GoBlueWolverine that he is getting a lot of recruiting interest.

"I'm getting lots of letters from Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, and the majority of the Pac Ten. And Texas now. The letters from Michigan are signed by Mike Debord."

Who has offered you a scholarship so far?

"I have one offer so far, from Oregon State."

With Michigan and Notre Dame showing interest - are you thinking about leaving the West Coast?

"Well, both Michigan and Notre Dame have a lot of history, and they are great schools ... plus they are two good football teams right now."

"I went to Notre Dame's junior day this winter. It was cold, but it was fine. The weather didn't bother me."

What school did you grow up rooting for?

"Texas. I'll go to a combine in the state of Texas this spring. I hear their combines have a lot of talent, maybe the most talent -- and I want to challenge myself with the best. I'm up here in Oregon, and I'm looking to gain some respect."

Talk about yourself as a player a little. What is your strong suit?

"I'm a defensive tackle. I believe I can always get to football ... my motor is always running, I never take a play off."

Wade's head coach says about him, "He's a beast."
