GBW '06 Best Guess List: Quarterbacks Updated

GoBlueWolverine's "First Guess" recruiting list for 06-07 is developing enough to become a "Best Guess." Here are the Quarterbacks -- two names added, one with a U-M offer.

The need: critical, two needed.

Texas QB Ryan Mallett (6-7, 240, 4.8) Texarkana Texas. He was a 2005 camper, and will camp again in 2006, as well as possibly visiting in the spring. *He has a U-M offer*, and the competition: Texas of course (he attended several games last fall), and possibly Arkansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma (although he has not talked to the Sooners at all yet). He also lists Baylor, Miami and Texas A&M. He is considered one of the nation's Top Ten juniors.

N.Y. QB Mike Paulus (6-5, 210) Syracuse, N.Y., Christian Brothers Academy. Notre Dame leads for him, but hasn't offered (they are waiting for Jimmy Clausen); U-M is second. *He reportedly has a U-M offer*, and also has offers from Arizona State, Duke, Miami of Ohio, NC State, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Virginia, Wake Forest, Wisconsin. He'll make a spring visit to U-M. He plans to make a summer decision.

Vir. QB Peter Lalich (6-4 1/2, 205) from Springfield. The top performing QB at the U.S. Army Combine in January, Lalich now has a U-M offer, as well as offers from Miami, Pitt, UCLA, North Carolina State, Ohio State, and Virginia. He attended the '05 OSU game. He is good friends with Chicago RB Robert Hughes. He is considered a top 100 Junior.

As a junior he passed for 2,820 yards (63% completions) and 34 touchdown passes with just six ints. He was a US Army Combine attendee and a U-M Junior day attendee as well. His head coached kicked for U-M. He is considered a top 100 Junior.
