Michigan starts off once again with less than 20 scholarships available for 2007 -- of course, the number grew from 12 to 20 in 2005-06.
(Note: This "First Guess" list is inclusive, not exclulsive. Names will be added, especially through the spring and through camp.
We don't want to put a person on the list who doesn't belong there, but visa versa is certainly the case -- there wil be more.)
The need: strong: two?
Mich. TE/WR Martell Webb (6-5, 215, 4.7) from Pontiac Northern. Here is an early 'sleeper' -- Webb attended the U-M Junior Day and was *offered a U-M* scholarship. The Wolverines are his only offer so far, and lead.
Mich. TE Rocky Weaver (6-5, 215, 4.8) from Battle Creek Harper Creek. He attended five U-M games this past fall, and was a Junior Day attendee. He is a top ten Michigan junior. As a junior he had 1,025 yards receiving and scored 12 touchdowns; he recorded 46 tackles and six sacks on the defensive side. He also plays basketball, averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds a game.
Ohio TE Kyle Hubbard (6-4, 225, 4.6 at the '05 U-M Camp) from Lakewood St. Edwards. His April 1st top four: Miami (Fla.), Ohio State, Michigan, and Texas. As a junior he caught over 40 passes. He was a 2005 U-M Camper, he attended a U-M game last fall, and he was an '06 U-M Junior day attendee. As a junior (only his second year of football) he had 58 catches for 800 yards (13.8 yards per reception) and 6 TDs. He is a top 10-15 Ohio junior.
-- TE/WR Adrien Robinson (6-5, 225, 4.7 (electronic) He has a 36-inch vertical and an 11.0 100m. Indiana and Louisville have offered. He attended the '05 U-M Camp and the Jan. '06 Junior Day.
