Dionte Allen Thinking Spring Visits

Dionte Allen's hectic schedule hasn't slowed down yet, but the talented in-state prospect may finally be able to squeeze in a few campus visits. Ann Arbor will likely be one of his destinations in the very near future.

As a three-sport standout for the Orchard Lake St. Mary's Eaglets, Dionte Allen always seems to be busy competing. Like fellow in-state defensive back Ronald Johnson, Allen recently turned his attention to track.

"I just run in the 4x100 and 4x200, and high jump," Allen said. "I'm probably going to end up doing something later on. I'm not even ready right now. I'm just getting back in there. They've been running track for a minute. I just started running track last week."

Allen's busy schedule hasn't left much time to visit college campuses this spring, but that could finally change this weekend.

"I talked to Coach 'E' (Michigan defensive coordinator, Ron English), and he wanted me to come down there last week," Allen said. "He asked me why I didn't come and I told him I had a track meet. I haven't been anywhere yet. After basketball we've had track meets. I'll most likely be there Saturday (for the spring game)."

Allen may not have been able to make to Ann Arbor thus far this spring, but he has been keeping tabs on the progress of his good friend Morgan Trent.

"I haven't been up there, but I've been talking to him," Allen said. "He said he has been working hard and stuff like that. I don't know if it's for practice right now until he gets a little tougher, but I know they've got him playing the boundary so he has to come up and hit some people."

Trent's performance, and that of all of the DB's, will be Allen's primary focus should he make it to the spring game on Saturday. If things go as he'd like them to, he'll squeeze in another visit as well. Whether he's able to trip to the campuses of his favorites over the spring and summer will play a large role in determining whether he follows through on his earlier plan of committing to a program before his senior season starts.

"I was trying to get down to Florida State this spring break, but I don't know yet," Allen said. "I know I'm going to go check out Florida State, Michigan, USC, and Ohio State before I do anything. I don't know right now if I'll commit before my season. I'm just not sure."
