When GoBlueWolverine caught up with Scottie Reynolds recently to discuss his plans for the future, it was clear that the decision to re-open his recruitment has been weighing heavily on his mind. Between that, battling the effects of a cold, and speaking to the new Sooners basketball coach (Jeff Capel), the McDonalds All-American was taking a break from things to think about how to proceed.
On one hand, the sweet-shooting guard seemed resigned to ending up at a school other than Oklahoma, but on the other hand, it appeared that Norman almost certainly is the place where he'd spend the next four years of his life.
“They are still there, but a lot of questions have to be answered for
me to go there," Reynolds said regarding Oklahoma. "I still like them
though. Something a lot better has to come along with a bigger challenge for
me to select another school."
Part of Reynolds' criteria for his decision will again be his comfort level with the staff. “It comes down to a feeling on how I feel," he said. "A vision on how it can be down the road."
Helping Reynolds with this process are his parents and his high school coach, Gary Hall. They have relieved a lot of the stress with their advice and guidance and they aren't putting any limits on his decision
“They just want what is the best situation for me," Reynolds said. “Man, Coach (Hall) has been very good at helping me out. He knows every stat and every college. He is really looking out for me like a friend”.
Another one of Reynolds' friends has been trying to help out as well. Future Wolverine Anthony Wright chatted with his fellow Virginian at the Capital Classic a few weeks back and has continued to put in a good word for Michigan.
“A. Wright has been calling me," Reynolds said. "That’s
my boy. We have known each other since our sophomore year. He wants me to come
to Michigan, so we have talked about it”.
At this point Reynolds is not yet certain which programs will definitely be in the mix. He indicated that he will have his list of schools Tuesday. He will the take at least two visits and make a decision and at a date yet to be determined.
“I don’t have a timetable right now for making a decision," he said. "Maybe in a month I will decide. We will see.”
Until then, Reynolds will continue to work out everyday, lifting and playing ball.
“I have to be ready for where ever I go," he said.
GoBlueWolverine will have more on reynolds in the coming days.
