Two Top Offers For Ill. Defensive End

Michigan and Notre Dame have offered Chicago Simeon defensive end Martez Wilson.

Martez Wilson Profile

Chicago, Illinois (Simeon) defensive end Martez Wilson received two new scholarship offers over the weekend from two of the premier programs in the Midwest.

"On Friday, Coach (Andy) Moeller from Michigan offered me a scholarship," Wilson told Scout.com. "He just told me that after checking me out, he felt I was deserving of playing Wolverine football so they were offering a full scholarship. He said that Coach (Lloyd) Carr, him, and myself would decide on what position I will play if I go there."

Wilson had visited Notre Dame for their spring game two weekends ago, and returned to South Bend this past weekend for a combine, in which, the Notre Dame coaches attended.

"On Saturday, Coach (Rob) Ianello told me to call Coach (Charlie) Weiss so I did on Sunday. Coach Weiss told me they were offering me a scholarship. Even though I worked out at wide receiver at the combine, he told me that he still believes I'm going to shine more on the defensive side of the ball. He sees me as a guy that can be used at outside linebacker or defensive end," Wilson stated.

Wilson now holds six offers after previously receiving offers from Illinois, Northern Illinois, Purdue, and Kansas State. He mentioned Ohio State as his other current favorite, right now.
