Jordan Mabin Profile
One of the top prospects in the Buckeye State is only holding three scholarship offers at this time and that is just quite baffling. Jordan Mabin, a 5-foot-11, 182-pound, running back/defensive back, from Nordonia high in Macedonia, was one of the top cornerbacks at the U.S. Army National Combine in January and he has a stellar resume, so why the lack of interest?
"There's a lot of interest right now but all the coaches are telling me that they need to see film of me at cornerback." Jordan Mabin told Scout.com.
"Some schools think I'm too small to be a running back and they want me to play cornerback, so they are just waiting on film.
"Pittsburgh, Indiana and Kent State are my scholarship offers right now. My favorites are Michigan, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Indiana and Florida.
"If all my favorites offer, I'd say it would be a three-horse race between Ohio State, Michigan and Pittsburgh.
"Ohio State because they are close to home, I grew up watching them and I'm an Ohio boy. Michigan because of the tradition and Pittsburgh because I have family over there."
Mabin is a terrific football player that was brought up to the varsity the first day of high school as a freshman. Jordan played cornerback as a freshman and was moved to running back as a sophomore while still playing cornerback and safety for Nordonia.
As a junior, Mabin rushed for 1,495 yards and 23 touchdowns. He had three interceptions on the defensive side of the football. Jordan says he's anxious to show what he can do on the defensive side of the ball.
"That's why I've been spending a lot of time working with the defensive backs at the combines." Mabin explained.
"Coaches want to see me work out on defense so I've been working out with the cornerbacks at the combines.
"I feel that I'm strong enough to handle the big receivers and fast enough (4.43) to run with the quick receivers. I have good instincts and technique. My best attribute is my ability to be a physical corner. I'm coming out to hit."
Mabin attended the U.S. Army National Combine this past January in San Antonio where he watched his cousin Dorin Dickerson play in the All-American game, he also attended the Scout.com All-American combine at Pittsburgh earlier in the year. Now "J-Mabes" turns his attention to yet another combine.
"I'm completely focused on the Nike combine now." Mabin said. "It's this Friday at Ohio State and I'm completely focused on that right now. I heard there will be some college coaches there so I'm looking to open some eyes.
"I'm also thinking about taking some courses during the summer so I'll have enough credits to graduate early if I'd like. I might want to get a jump start on things so I at least want to have that option."
