Tuesday Camp (Report #1): Seven On Seven!

One of the highlights of the Michigan summer camp is the seven-on-seven passing drills competition. A lot of top players, including the Orchard St. Mary's guys, showed up to participate on Tuesday morning.

Tuesday morning seven on seven participants included:

-- Cornerback Dionte Allen from Orchard Lake St. Mary's.

-- Cornerback Jordan Mabin from Nordonia, Ohio. He just came into camp today. He made two interceptions and had a strong day.

-- Cornerback Troy Wolfolk from Houston, Texas. Tuesday was his final day at camp. Is an offer forthcoming?

-- Safety Eugene Clifford from Cincinnati Colerain.

-- Safety Artis Chambers from Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He just came into camp today. Chambers is 6-0 or a hair over, and around 180 pounds.

-- Wide receiver Taurian Washington from Orchard Lake St. Mary's. He just came into camp today -- without his receiver gloves (making Mallett's passes deadly for him) or helmet (he was wearing one that somehow he couldn't see well with).

-- Tight end Rocky Weaver from Battle Creek. He just came into camp today. Weaver did well -- tall and fast.

-- Tight end Cameron Joplin from Ann Arbor Pioneer. He just came into camp today.

-- Tight end (and U-M commitment) Martell Webb from Pontiac. He just came into camp today.

-- Quarterback Ryan Mallett.

The stars of the drill: well, Eugene Clifford and Ryan Mallett are 'givens' -- so we'll go with Martell Webb. A dominating performer -- that guy is physical and fast, scoring two long touchdowns.

Perhaps the guy most likely (just opinion) to get a U-M offer on this day: Troy Wolfolk. Possible: Rocky Weaver as well. And, possible: running back Daniel Herron.

Other new attendees on Tuesday (Sam Webb will say more, when he posts on the OL-DL one on ones):

-- as an afternoon visitor: Defensive lineman Joseph Barksdale from Detroit Cass Tech (his junior CB teammate Boubacar Cissoko did NOT show up because of summer school commitments).

-- Defensive lineman Josh Brent (6-3. 290) from Bloomington, Illinois, Central Catholic.

--- Offensive lineman Cory Pfautz (6-4, 300) from Manheim Township, Pennsylvania.

-- Offensive lineman Mike Brewster from Edgewater, Florida.

-- Defensive lineman Tyler Palsrock from Vicksburg, Mikchigan.

-- U-M commitment Ryan VanBergen. He's been camping all week, but moved from tight end to defensive end today (and WOW).

Filling in a couple gaps:

-- attending Monday was linebacker Broderick Binns from St. Paul, Minn., Cretin Hall.

-- attending Sunday afternoon and into the first part of Sunday evening: the Indianapolis Warren Central kids, including U-M commitment safety Jerimy Finch and tight end Adrien Robinson.

Coming in Wednesday: Muskegon CB Ronald Johnson, Massillon Ohio OLB Andrew Dailey.
