Hubbard in Holding Pattern

Lakewood (OH) St. Edward standout Kyle Hubbard was scheduled to attend Michigan's summer camp last week but failed to make it in. GoBlueWolverine caught up with the athletic tight end to discuss where the Wolverines currently stand on his list, his plans for the rest of the summer, his decision timetable, and more.

Lakewood (OH) St. Edward tight end Kyle Hubbard has had a lot on his plate since school let out. The 6-3 220-pounder had initially planned to camp in Ann Arbor last week but had to change his schedule at the last minute.

"I've been so busy that I just didn't have a chance to make it up," said Hubbard. "I'm going to talk to Coach Loeffler about coming up there for a visit."

Hubbard had been hoping to earn an offer by performing well at camp, and his absence may have prolonged the evaluation process. He has been in contact with the Michigan coaches in recent days to discuss the matter.

"I talked to Coach Loeffler and he said he is on the West Coast right now," said Hubbard. "He said he would let me know (where things stand with an offer) when he gets back in."

In the meantime, Hubbard plans to hit the camp circuit as much as possible before the summer is over. He just returned home from Virginia's annual summer session and hopes to receive feedback on their level of interest in the near future.

"It was nice," Hubbard said regarding his stay in Charlottesville. "They said they were going to call my father in a couple of days and let me know. I'm going to see what other camps I can go to if it's not too late to go to any more."

Hubbard currently holds offers from Kentucky, Pitt, Bowling Green, Akron, and Kent State, but he insists he is in no hurry to decide amongst those programs. He is content to wait to see if his options expand as time passes.

"I really like Michigan, Ohio State, and a couple of other schools so it won't be until at least the middle of the season before I pick a school," he said. "I don't want to make a decision too early. I don't want to regret it."
