How Does It All Fit? The Safeties

Where do the new Wolverine recruits fit into the overall team-scheme of things? And, what about 2008 as well? How is the Wolverine football team lining up for the future? Next up -- safeties, where things changed for the Wolverines over the past couple weeks.

2007 Safeties Roster, Outlook and Recruiting:

Brandent Englemon.....31.........S.....5th Year Senior.....(2003 Recruiting Class).
Jamar Adams................22.........S.....Senior.................(2004 Recruiting Class).
Brandon Harrison.......27.........S.....Junior....................(2005 Recruiting Class).
Steve Brown..............30.........S.....Sophomore.............(2006 Recruiting Class).

Also, listed but used on Special Teams:
Anton Campbell.............9.........S.....5th Year Senior......(2003 Recruiting Class).

2007 Safety's Recruiting:

Commitment: FS Artis Chambers........from Fort Wayne, Indiana (Nelson Snider)

Two more possible safeties in the 2007 class:
Zion BAbb
James Rogers

Michigan loses Willis Barringer and quite possibly Ryan Mundy, and with Jonas Mouton moving to linebacker (a position of extreme need for the '07 Wolverines), Michigan has a need for safeties in the '07 recruiting class, particularly for a strong safety.

It was long thought that Jerimy Finch from Indianapolis, Indiana (Warren Central) would fit the bill as U-M's SS, but now, after U-M has gone into his school twice since the decommit and he is currently at Florida for a visit, this goes form an "optimistic" position, to "neutral.".

The '08 class of strong safety possibilities is still in its infancy, although one down the line could be '06 camper Eli Biakabutka from Montreal Vanier, cousin of former Wolverine Timonga.

A couple free safety possibilities for '08:

Will Hill from Jersey City, N.J., St. Peters. he's a top 100 guy for 07-08.

Troy Tidwell from Detroit Southeastern. He was named to the Army Junior Combine All-Defense second team as a CB, but looks more like a future FS to GBW.
