West Coast's Top Cornerback to Visit Michigan

With Michigan defensive back coaches Ron English and Ron Lee both hailing from the West Coast, Michigan has jumped into the recruiting fray with several California kids, particularly DB's. California's top cornerback Donovan Warren from Long Beach Poly is one, and Warren told GoBlueWolverine that he is planning a U-M visit.

Long Beach Poly's Donovan Warren is Scout.coms #4 cornerback and a five-star prospect. The 6-foot-1, 180 pounder runs a 4.4 second 40, has a 36 inch vertical jump, and is a natural cover-corner.

U-M defensive coordinator Ron English has long had a strong relationship with the storied Poly program, and it is paying off with Warren, who told GoBlueWolverine:

"I am going to make an official visit to Michigan, yes, definitely. I've been talking to Coach English about it."

"I want to make it a fall visit, for a game."

Do you have a firm date in mind?

"Not yet. I'm looking at my own schedule for bye-weeks, then I'll see if Michigan has a home game that week."

Michigan is not the only Midwest school on Warren's list.

"I'll also make an official visit to Ohio State."

Warren does not have a final five yet, but does have a top seven.

"Besides Michigan and Ohio State, I have five other top schools: USC, UCLA, Oregon, Cal and Arizona State."

USC is perhaps considered the favorite for Warren, but Michigan will get its shot.

As a junior, Warren recorded 51 tackles and one interception. He also has a 3.1 GPA and an 880 SAT score.
