Omar Bolden Profile
Four-star cornerback/running back Omar Bolden (5-10, 197, 4.4) from Ontario Colony (Calif.) now has a total of three scholarship offers, with his latest coming from Michigan.
"I was shocked but happy," Bolden said. "I talked with defensive coordinator Ron English last week and he just said that they are really impressed with me and that they want to offer me. It was a very quick conversation and I was too excited to really say anything."
Bolden also has offers from Washington and UTEP. He says the Wolverines have a slight edge over Washington, Arizona State, USC and Arizona. "I really like the Big 10 and Michigan just has amazing tradition. I didn't think they would offer. I don't really care about the distance or the weather. It's Michigan. That other stuff don't matter.
"I also really like head coach Tyrone Willingham at Washington," Bolden said. "He's a down-to=earth dude. I know they'll be improving because coach Willingham knows how to win and Washington has good tradition and they'll be back on top soon."
He says that the Wolverines are recruiting him strictly as a cornerback, while UTEP wants him for offense. Everyone else is recruiting Bolden as an athlete.
"I think Arizona State will offer me soon," Bolden said. "They said they wanted to wait until September and see what happens.
"I really want to play as a true freshman. That's the main thing for me. If I don't feel I'll be able to play, I won't go there."
Bolden hasn't scheduled any official visits yet.
He reports a 2.0 GPA and is about 40 points short on his SAT.
