Lorenzo Edwards Coming to A2 This Weekend

GoBlueWolverine spoke Sunday evening to the father of Orlando Edgewater safety Lorenzo Edwards. The former teammate of Michigan wideout Greg Mathews has set his first official visit -- to Michigan.

Lorenzo Edwards is a BIG safety: at the Jacksonville Scout.com Combine this spring he measured 6-2, 221 pounds, ran a 4.72 40, an identical shuttle time, and recorded a 31 inch vertical jump.

Edwards was an official visitor at Notre Dame for the Michigan game, and will be see Michigan again, soon. his father told GoBlueWolverine Sunday afternoon:

"Yes, Lorenzo has a Michigan visit scheduled."

Mr. Edwards got off the phone to check with Lorenzo, then said, "Yes, it's for this coming weekend the 7th. He's visiting for the Michigan State game."

"Sorry not to put Lorenzo on -- he's doing a photo shoot right now."

"The visit will be his official Michigan visit."

Edwards has named a final five of U-M, Notre Dame (he was on an unofficial visit for the U-M game), Clemson, Georgia Tech and Florida.

Scout.com's Mike Bakas recently scouted an Edgewater game, and said this about Edwards:

"You can usually tell during warmups which kids are going to be prospects. They simply stand out and their skill sets are noticably different than most other kids. On an Edgewater team loaded with talent, Edwards is their most impressive prospect among the seniors. At 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, he has a tremendous build. He's cut, has a narrow waist, and has big calves. He might not be the quickest or fastest safety around (then again, most aren't 220 pounds) but the kid's instincts are so good that he can get to the ball quicker than it looks. He made over 100 stops as a junior last season and he's well on his way to doing the same this year. He has a personal trainer who does a tremendous job with preparing him and he has a very good coaching staff around him at Edgewater. He's the leader of a defense that hasn't allowed a point in three games this year."
