Martez Wilson Planning U-M Visit

Chicago Simeon's five-star defensive end Martez Wilson,'s number 28 prospect, has dropped one school and shifted his official visits a bit -- and Michigan is back once again in Army All-American's plans.

Five-star Illinois defensive end Martez Wilson (6-4, 235) from Chicago Simeon is's #28 prospect and an Army All-American. Wilson had had five schools picked out to visit, and Michigan was hanging around just outside his top five.

His five schools had been USC (Nov. 24 official visit), Notre Dame (Dec. 1), Ohio State (Dec. 8), Miami (Dec. 15) and Illinois (Jan.). But that has changed, Wilson told GoBlueWolverine Sunday:

"Okay, this is how it is now. I'm still visiting USC, Notre Dame and Ohio State as planned. But, instead of Miami on the 15th I plan to visit Michigan. And then Illinois in January still."

Wilson is a man of few words, but these words are good news for Michigan fans -- although the date Wilson plans for his Michigan visit may have to move, we'll see. Michigan has never had an official visit on the 3rd December weekend because of exams and the getting ready to leave to a bowl game. Of course if the Wolverines should win on Saturday, their January bowl date will be a week later than usual ...

GoBlueWolverine will stay on top on the Wilson situation.

Wilson's Simeon team has ended its season this past weekend, losing in the Chicago City Tournament 20-15 to Chicago King to finish 7-5 for the year.

Wilson has a 2.9 GPA and a 17 ACT score.

Wilson is a prototypical 'speed defensive end' prospect, in the Tim Jamison mode. He is longer and leaner than Jamison however, and could even play linebacker at the college level, or tight end for that matter.

Wilson has been named to the U.S. Army All American team, and GBW will have access to him at the event in San Antonio in early January.
