OSU Won the Battle of Mistakes and Big Plays

It was a game of big plays and mistakes .... however OSU scored 21 points off Michigan miscues, but the Wolverines managed just 10 off Buckeye blunders. In the end, that was the difference. Here are the game drives once again, shortened down to highlight Big Plays and Mistakes.

Michigan took the opening kickoff and marched. Chad Henne hit Mario Manningham for 24 yards to the OSU 47, and two plays later for 25 more yards to Mario to the OSU 1. Mike Hart scored walking in.

Michigan 7, OSU 0

OSU took the ensuing kickoff to the U-M 31. Throwing on every down but one, OSU got 4 first downs (each one on 3rd down), and scored a TD.

After three punt exchanges:

SECOND QUARTER

OSU took the punt at their own 42, and on 2nd down (BIG PLAY by OSU, MISTAKE by U-M) Chris Wells ran it 52 yards for a TD.

OSU 14, Michigan 7

After Michigan punted, OSU took over at their own 8. After a 39 yard completion to the 50, (BIG PLAY by OSU) Troy Smith hit Ted Ginn for a 39 yard TD.

OSU 21, Michigan 7

Michigan took the ensuing kickoff, and after two first downs, one on a pass interference call, (BIG PLAY by U-M) Chad Henne threw a 37 yard TD strike to Adrian Arrington.

OSU 21, Michigan 14

OSU took the ensuing kickoff and went on a machine-like drive, getting 4 first downs and a 7 yard TD pass.

THIRD QUARTER

After OSU took the opening kickoff and went three and out, U-M took the ensuing punt at the U-M 40 and it was Mike Hart time -- Hart ran 33 yards to the OSU 17 for one 1st down, 15 more yards to the OSU 3 for another, then scored the TD.

Michigan 28, OSU 21

OSU took the ensuing kickoff, and (BIG PLAY by U-M, MISTAKE by OSU) on the 3rd play Smith threw an interception to Allen Branch at the OSU 25.

However, (BIG PLAY by OSU) Michigan went three and out from the OSU 25, and Garrett Rivas kicked a 39 yard field goal.

OSU 28, Michigan 24

OSU took the ensuing kickoff, and on the 3rd play (BIG PLAY by OSU, MISTAKE by U-M) Antonio Pittman ran 56 yards for a TD.

OSU 35, Michigan 24

After three punt exchanges:

OSU took a U-M punt at the 20, and on the second play (BIG PLAY by U-M, MISTAKE by OSU) OSU fumbled it at the OSU 9.

FOURTH QUARTER

On 2nd down, Steve Breaston went to the 1/2 yard line on an end around, and Hart scored from there.

OSU 35, Michigan 31

OSU took the kickoff and got two first downs, but (BIG PLAY by U-M, MISTAKE by OSU) fumbled to U-M at the U-M 32.

However, (BIG PLAY by OSU) Michigan went three and out.

OSU took the punt at the Michigan 15 and put on the game-winning drive. OSU got 5 first downs, the last (BIG PLAY for OSU, MISTAKE by U-M) on a roughing the passer penalty on Shawn Crable when U-M had OSU stopped at the U-M 39. OSU scored on a 13 yard TD pass at the 5:38 mark.

OSU 42, Michigan 31

U-M took the ensuing kickoff and playing against a prevent defense, U-M got 4 first downs and scored on a 16 yard TD pass to Tyler Ecker at the 2:16 mark. U-M went for 2 and got it on a pass to Breaston.

OSU, however, successfully received a U-M onside kick, and ran out the clock. Game over.
