Cali RB Eyes Michigan

Michigan snagged QB Matt Gutierrez from the Concord (CA) De La Salle last year now his former teammate is looking at the Wolverines. RB Maurice Drew will be a three-year varsity starter in 2002.

"Colorado, Wisconsin and Washington have offered me a scholarship." Running back Maurice Drew said.

"I'm open right now but my favorites would be Miami (Fla.), Texas, Michigan, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Colorado, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Washington and Arizona.

"I'm just concentrating on my season right now. We play a tough schedule. Everyone seems to be gunning for us.

"We'll play Long Beach (Poly) and Honululu (HI) St. Louis in Hawaii. I'll set up my visits and narrow everything down after the season.

Drew, a 5-foot-8, 190-pound, running back has been timed at 4.41 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

He rushed for 730 yards and also had 438 yards receiving in 2001. Those numbers were good enough to earn Maurice (junior) all-state honors.

Drew says he has no official visits set up as of yet. He also letters in track & field.
