Texarkana Texas quarterback Ryan Mallett is up in Ann Arbor Michigan, taking care of business enrolling for the winter semester now, because he'll be busy with Army Game practice right after New Years when his fellow early enrollers Artis Chambers and Vince Helmuth are signing up for their classes.
GoBlueWolverine caught up with Mallett last night. He was his usual friendly self, and had things to say on three subjects: his enrollment at Michigan, the upcoming Army All American game, and a couple friends of his ...
"I'm all enrolled, it's done. I'm a student at Michigan!"
"I'm walking around Ann Arbor right now -- it's 31 degrees! Down in Texarkana it's 80 right now!"
"I'm coming home tomorrow (Wednesday)."
GBW Note: There was no used him hanging around U-M for any more bowl practices -- this year early enrollees cannot practice and play in bowl games.
On the Army All American Game:
"It'll probably be hot and humid in San Antonio and no one will be able to handle the heat!"
"They will probably have to start some one else at quarterback ... but I'll be ready."
"I know Michael Williams' coach is the Head Coach, so that's good."
"You just might see me take off running in the game -- so be ready for that. I'm serious, watch for it. That's how it goes in those games. You watch for it now!"
Regarding his two junior friends, running back Sam McGuffie and offensive tackle J.B. Shugarts.
"That boy is sick! Hes sick! Have you seen him play? He's FAST!"
"He's supposed to to be at the Army Combine, and J.B. (Shugarts) will be there."
"I got my Michigan offer the day after Signing Day last year ... McGuffie might get one like that too."
"J.B. will be around here next summer, but he won't be camping. His dad will be working the camp though and J.B. will be around ..."
GBW Note: Shugarts got a verbal offer at camp last summer; U-M fans can rest assured he'll certainly get a written one right at Signing Day as well ... the McGuffie situation is a little bit different since he's never been to U-M, that's all (even though he was born in Detroit and has family there).
