Is Michigan Still in the Mix With Roe?

Recent scuttlebutt has the Wolverines on the outside looking in for Lakewood (OH) St. Edward forward Delvon Roe. GoBlueWolverine caught up with the youngster to find out if there was any truth to the rumors.

Rumors of Michigan’s supposed decline in the Delvon Roe sweepstakes have been hot and heavy on messageboards in recent weeks. The 6-7, 215 pound forward still maintains a top five of North Carolina, Michigan, Michigan State, Kansas, and Ohio State and doesn’t publicly list any as having an advantage over the others. He did, though, discuss whether a specific school, (i.e. Michigan), was on the outside looking in at his recruitment.

“No,” Roe responded to the question. “I just talked to (Coach Amaker) a few nights ago.

One of the topics of discussion had to do with speculation that Wolverines headman Tommy Amaker wouldn’t be around in Ann Arbor past this year. When asked if that was one of the issues that had been brought up to him, Roe indicated that it had.

“Yeah, they have,” Roe said regarding whether the whisper campaign was being used by others against Michigan. “They tried. I totally agree with what (Coach Amaker) said. I’m on his side 100% because you can’t believe everybody else and what they say. You’ve got to take his word for it. He says he is going to be there and I agree with him 100%.”

For the time being, Roe has put his recruitment on the backburner while directing most of his attention toward academics and his high school season. He will, however, take a few unofficial visits to a few of the schools on his list over the winter.

“I’ll be going to some games, but I don’t know exactly when,” he said. “I know I’ll be going to the North Carolina/Duke game in March.”

GoBlueWolverine will have more on Row in the coming months.
