Wisconsin Prospect Names Leaders

Valders offensive lineman is seeing a steady rise in his stock. The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder names his early favorites.

"I don't have any scholarship offers yet," said offensive lineman Ryan Schulz. "I'm keeping my options open right now. I'm hearing from a lot of schools.

"My favorites are Michigan, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Northwestern and Northern Illinois."

Schulz, a 6-foot-4, 250-pounder from Valders, Wisconsin will be a three-year varsity starter in 2002.

Valders head coach Wade Rickmeir had this to say about his three-year starter and captain.

"Ryan (Schulz) is the best lineman in our area, hands down." Rickmeir said.

"He'll be a three-year starter on the varsity. Ryan is so athletic that we even toyed with the idea of using him as a tight end.

"He's explosive. He throws the shot about 53 feet. I feel that Ryan can play on either side of the ball at the next level.

"Ryan is a great kid on and off the field and he comes from an athletic family. He's going to be a successful young man in college."

Schulz also letters in track and basketball. He carries a 3.2 GPA in the classroom and scored 21 on his ACT.
