Depth Chart Analysis -- Linebackers

This is the one area of the defense that people have questions about. Losing Larry Foote and Eric Brackins will be tough, but the Wolverines have more than a couple highly-touted, athletic young men capable of taking their place.

1st Team LB

OLB Victor Hobson - All America candidate, co-captain. He's a fifth-year senior that makes plays all over the field.

ILB Zach Kaufman - Speedy junior from California has little game experience, but has shown flashes of his athletic ability on special teams.

ILB Carl Diggs - Started a few games last season when Brackins was injured. Made his presence felt against the Huskies last year, amassing eight tackles and three TFLs against Washington.

2nd Team LB

OLB - Emmanuel Casseus - The Canadian, whose native language is French, has been mostly a special teams player in his two years at Michigan.

ILB - Lawrence Reid - Redshirt freshman may see action in passing situations because of his ability to move around the field.

ILB - Scott McClintock - The coaches love his pursuing ability, but he will also see just limited action.

Back-ups OLB Roy Manning and Joey Sarantos could see some situational action, but expect them to contribute on special teams.
