Time to Introduce RB Sam McGuffie

As it finally comes to light that Michigan and Marquis Maze have parted ways, it is now time for U-M fans to be properly introduced to junior Texas running back Sam McGuffie, who had one of the legendary seasons in Texas High School football lore -- and who has family in Michigan.

Houston Cy-Fair is a Texas 5-A (largest classification) powerhouse, and in 2006 went 12-2, losing 16-15 in the state semi-finals. Cy-Fair was led by 5-10, 185-pound running back Sam McGuffie who ran for 3,121 yards (26 carries per game, 8.6 yards per carry), and who had one of the legendary carries in Texas Football lore (Click for: Click for Sam McGuffie on YouTube).

As it finally comes to light that Michigan and Marquis Maze have parted ways, GoBlueWolverine contacted McGuffie to properly introduce him to Michigan fans.

Have you been in contact with Michigan?

"Yes, I've been calling and talking to Coach Jackson (Michign running backs coach who also recruits East Texas for U-M). He seems like a pretty cool coach."

What has Michigan said to you about a scholarship offer?

"I will get my Michigan offer on Febuary 7th."

After Michigan offers you, will Michigan be your leader?

"Well I'm not really sure at this point. It's still really early in the game. I have family in Flint, Michigan which helps, but that won't be the only reason if I decide to go there."

Are you planning on an early commitment?

"I'm not really sure. I want to see how my recruitment goes. When I feel comfortable, I will announce."

What other offers do you have at this time?

"I have an offer from Texas A&M, from Texas Tech, and from Kansas."

Have you been talking to any Michigan players?

"Well Ryan Mallett messaged me on Myspace the other day ..."

Do you ever talk to JB Shugarts (top Klein, Texas OT who was a U-M camper last summer)?

"Yeah, we have become good friends and we talk all the time."

Is J.B. going to transfer to your high school for this next season?

"I'm not sure; there has been some talk of it but I know it's complicated."

GoBlueWolverine will keep up with the blazing fast (sub-4.4 sec. 40) McGuffie for Michigan fans.
