Neb. OL Robinson Gets Wolverine Offer

One of the top offensive line performers at the Army Junior Combine was Trevor Robinson from Elkhorn, Nebraska. The agile 6-5, 300-pounder also received a Michigan Signing Day Offer. GoBlueWolverine enjoyed scouting Robinson at the combine, and we caught back up with him, and his father, Monday evening.

Elkhorn, Nebraska OL Trevor Robinson and his father spoke to GoblueWolverine on several topics of interest to Michigan fans:

"The Offer"

Mr. Robinson: "Trevor got offered last week, by Coach Carr."

Mr. Robinson: "Coach Moeller was out here a few days before."

Trevor: "I've been talking to Coach Moeller for the majority of the time from Michigan."

Trevor: "So Coach Moeller texted me, and he told me to call on (this past) Wednesday morning ... that I'd talk to Coach Carr and that they were going to offer. So I called and talked to Coach Carr for a few minutes."

Other Offers

Trevor: "I have offers from Notre Dame, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Boston College, and Texas A&M."

Mr. Robinson: "Notre Dame offered Trevor on Sept. 1st. He had a good camp there last summer. Nebraska looked at his sophomore film and early junior film and offered him."

Trevor's Winter/Spring

Mr. Robinson: "Trevor has done Kansas and Iowa Junior Days, he's doing a Junior Day at Nebraska, and a Notre Dame Junior Day."

"Michigan's Junior Day was filled up I guess."

"So he'll also do some spring practices at those same schools, including at Michigan."

Trevor: "I'm doing Notre Dame, Nebraska, Kansas and Iowa for Junior days. I'm going up to Michigan for a spring practice."

Robinson's Top Five

Trevor: "I have a top five of (not in order) Michigan, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas."

His Timetable

Trevor: "I'd like to take some official visits ideally ... but I realize spots can fill up, so things happen earlier and earlier these days. So I might be making a summer decision."

Mr. Robinson: "He'll probably make his decision sooner rather than later."

His College Position

Trevor: "It doesn't matter to me -- I could play either guard or tackle."

GoBlueWolverine Scouting Report:
His forte: great mobility for a 6-5, 300-pounder. Trevor had an excellent Army Combine (he was named 2nd Team All-Combine, click for '07 Army All Jr. Combine Team'07 Army All Jr. Combine Team); in the shuttle he showed the best lateral movement of all the linemen (Zebrie Sanders ran the best looking 40). Robinson and Floridian Mike Brewster are similar players in size, body type, etc. We spoke to Robinson after the 40/shuttle/vertical testing because he'd done so well, but we had been mistakenly told he was a early commitment already, so we did not interview him as a U-M recruiting target at the time.

Mr. Robinson: "Trevor is good at starting and stopping, and lateral movement. He ran a 4.67 second shuttle at the Nebraska Camp last summer."

Mr. Robinson: "At the Army thing there were so many kids, a guy only got 6-7-8 reps in each drill. And there are those one on one pass-blocking drills. In high high school his teams runs 80% of the time. All the summer camps work on footwork and do those one-on-one pass blocking drills. We'd been down to the Army Combine the year before ... so he tried to work on the pass blocking drill beforehand this time." (note: this is a common problem with the top HS OL's ... their teams run behind them so they don't get practice at pass-blocking).

Another funny thing: at the Army Combine GBW THOUGHT we'd recognized him from somewhere (ie, from the U-M Camp?), but with his lion-mane locks we weren't sure. Look at the difference:

This was the guy at the U-M Camp last summer.

Would you think this is the same guy?

Mr. Robinson: "We went to the Michigan camp for a day last June. We'd been at the OSU camp two days before, then traveled a day and did the Michigan Camp for a day." "At the OSU Camp he strained his groin, so he wasn't 100% at Michigan."

Trevor: "That was my 5th camp in 8 days ... I had gone to Kansas, Iowa, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and finally Michigan."
