"I have 48 scholarship offers right now, said cornerback Donte Whitner. "I have it narrowed down to Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee and USC (Southern Cal).
"I'm going to visit those four schools for sure and I'm not sure about a fifth visit yet. I'm looking for the best situation I can put myself in.
"If it's Ohio State, then it's Ohio State. If it's Michigan, fine, it's Michigan. I grew up a fan of Ohio State, Florida, Florida State and Tennessee.
"I'm looking for a stable coaching staff. A staff that's going to be there for me during my four years on campus.
"I'm looking for a coaching staff that cares just as much about academics as they do football. I need to know that I'm going to get academic support from the football staff."
Will distance from home factor in the decision making process for Whitner?
"Distance isn't a factor. I'm also going to be looking for a family atmosphere within the team. If I go away from home and I get homesick are there going to be some teammates there for me?
"I need to have that family atmosphere away from family if you know what I mean." Whitner said.
Whitner, a 5-foot-11, 180-pounder, from Cleveland (Glenville) has been timed at 4.22 in the 40-yard dash.
As a junior he had, 74 solo tackles, four interceptions, forced four fumbles and ran three interceptions back for touchdowns from his cornerback position.
Whitner also had 17 touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball.
Whitner is currently the #1 ranked cornerback in the nation according to theInsiders.com and his teammate Dareus Hiley is the #4 ranked cornerback.
