Position X Position, Class X Class: Tight End

Where will the new Michigan Wolverine recruits fit into the overall team-scheme of the 2007 Michigan football season? Also what about next year's 2008 Michigan recruits as well? How is the Wolverine football team lining up for the future? Here are the Tight Ends for Michigan in 2007, plus a 2008 recruiting class first sneak peek.

2007 Tight Ends Roster, Outlook and 2008 Recruiting:

85 Carson Butler, TE, Red-shirt Sophomore, 2005 recruiting class.

83 Mike Massey, TE, Red-shirt Junior, 2004 recruiting class.

42 Chris McLaurin, TE, Red-shirt Sophomore, 2005 recruiting class.

Steve Watson, TE, Freshman, 2007 recruiting class.

Martell Webb, TE, Freshman, 2007 recruiting class.

Mike Massey is recovering (shoulder) and out for spring football. Will Carson Butler (assuming he moves beyond past off-field stumbles) continue to be the starter at tight end. Chris McLaurin who was moved over from the defense for depth reasons last year will certainly probably be kept there for the spring. It could be assumed that at least one of the frosh, Martell Webb or Steve Watson, might get a shot at early PT in the fall ... if so it may be Watson who has the early edge because Webb was a high school wideout.

The biggest thing for Coach Mike DeBord (tight ends coach) will be to get his best players healthy and on the field.

2008 Tight End Recruiting:

Michigan loses nobody to graduation.

Not losing anybody should build this position for the future. If so, the Wolverines might look for one "elite" guy to bring in and add depth to this position. GBW's list is just getting put together with players being added during this early recruiting period for the class of 2007-08.

2008 Tight Ends early possibilities:
