2008 Intro: Vaughn Dotsy

St. Bonaventure High (Ventura, CA) has been a prime spot for college recruiters over the past few seasons. With names like Lorenzo Booker, Whitney Lewis and most recently Michael Williams, the Seraphs have been churning out top level recruits. This season they have one of the nation's premier tailbacks Darrell Scott. Leading the way for him will be blue chip lineman Vaughn Dotsy.

Standing 6-5, 340 lbs, Dotsy has been on the recruiting radar for a few seasons now. Heading into his senior season, he is considered one of the top prospects at the offensive line position. Though he starts at right tackle for the Seraphs, Dotsy remains open ended about where he will play in college.

”It doesn’t really matter to me,” he said.  “I’m comfortable at guard or tackle, but I would like to play tackle at the next level. Coaches say I’ll probably play guard, buts it is up in the air right now.”

It is still early in the process, but this first team All-CIF selection has already heard from a number of Division I powers and reports scholarship offers from Alabama, Michigan, Arizona, San Diego State and Mississippi. While only two of those schools are in Pac-10 country, location won’t necessarily be a factor in his decision.

When asked about what the factors in his choice will be, Dotsy replied," My parents, my coaches, and how I feel about the coaching.”

A busy summer lies ahead for the big road grader. He reports a top five of USC, Michigan, Florida, UCLA and Notre Dame, and several of those schools could be destinations for his summer and fall road trips.

”I’m going to the USC camp, but I plan on visiting Michigan, Notre Dame, and Florida.”

As for when he will make a decision, Dotsy says it is still up in the air. However, there are at least a couple dates on the calendar that are enticing possibilities.

”Early in my senior season,” he responded. “Or I could do it at the Army All-American Bowl.”
