GoBlueWolverine spoke to Chicago St. Rita defensive end Darius Fleming.
We hear that you've been in contact with Michigan?
"Yes. I went there for Michigan's Junior Day in mid-February, although because of the weather I got there later in the day."
"And then last Wednesday Coach Debord called my coach and had me call him. Coach Debord told me to call Coach Carr. So I did, on Thursday, and he offered me a Michigan scholarship."
At the Army Combine you worked out at defensive end, but you looked like you could play outside linebacker as well. Has Michigan told you where they see you?
"Coach Szabo wants me as a linebacker. But after watching my film, Coach Stripling told me he wants me with my hand on the ground, as a defensive end."
"That's what played this year for St. Rita, and what I'll be playing next year, defensive end."
As a junior defensive end at St. Rita, Fleming recorded 105 tackles, including 15 tackles-for-loss, plus nine sacks. He was named first team All-City, All-Conference and All-State.
And at the Army Combine this past January, Fleming measured 6-2, 219.5 pounds, he ran a 4.82 40 and a very good 4.43 shuttle, and he recorded an excellent 32.5 inch vertical jump and a good 19 bench press reps.
Who all has offered you so far?
"Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Boston College and Notre Dame."
Do you have any spring or summer plans?
"I'm going to try to get to some spring practices -- I plan to go to one at Michigan. As far as summer camps, I'm not sure yet."
Do you have a list of favorites?
"Yes. Michigan, Notre Dame, Illinois and Wisconsin."
