Christian Wilson Finds U-M "hard to resist"

One of Michigan's first offers for the 07-08 recruiting class was to Pittsburgh-area RB/FB/LB Christian Wilson. Wilson tried to make it to Michigan's Junior Day in February but the weather messed him up, so he and his family traveled over to Ann Arbor for the Wolverines' first spring practice. GBW spoke to him about it.

At this past January's Army Junior Combine, McKees Rocks Moutour's Christian Wilson told GoBlueWolverine that he ran for 950 yards on 137 carries (6.95 yards per carry) as a junior, and on defense also added 70+ tackles as a linebacker. At the combine he worked out at running back, showing excellent agility for a 6-2.5, 222 pounder with a 4.4 sec. shuttle. He also recorded a 27 inch vertical and did 16 bench press reps. Since the combine, pretty much the whole eastern half of the country has been after Wilson, but in San Antonio he'd told GBW that he was interested in visiting Michigan. This past weekend, he tells GBW, he did make it to Ann Arbor.

You attended Michigan's first spring practice?

"Yes. We were there Friday and Saturday. It was real nice. Just that stadium ... It was what I was expecting."

"Michigan is a hard place to resist."

You've been to Pitt, Michigan State, Tennessee, Maryland and Virginia this winter. How would you compare this visit?

"It was the best so far ... I was kind've expecting it to be."

"It is hard to resist Michigan ..."

We watched you work out at running back at the Army Combine, but you're a top linebacker as well ... what position is Michigan recruiting you for?

"When I was down there watching practice, they were talking to me about playing H-back."

GBW note to U-M fans: this makes sense -- Michigan is thin at the Fullback/H-Back spots.

What is next for you?

"I'm visiting Virginia Tech this weekend, then UNC and Wake Forrest."

GBW note: Wilson also has offers from PSU, OSU, Clemson, Auburn, among others.

What is your decision timetable?

"I've been thinking I want to decide before school starts. But if I don't make that, then soon after football ends."

Do you have a top five?

"Not yet. I'm still visiting campuses and seeing what different teams want me for, and what my chances are of playing."

"But it's hard to resist Michigan."
