Butler High (Matthews, NC) CB Robert Blanton has been on the road visiting schools and attending camps of late. He discussed how those went and if his recent visits have changed his leaderboard at all.
Having just gotten back from South Bend on a visit to Notre Dame, Butler High (Matthews, NC) CB Robert Blanton was clearly still beaming from his trip.
”It was a great trip up there and I really enjoyed it,” he said. “It definitely moved them up.”
The Fighting Irish are one of many schools vying for the services of Mr. Blanton. Although he has many offers and will no doubt receive several more before his recruitment is over, the talented defensive back is still reluctant to name names.
”No sir, I don’t have a leader right now, but Notre Dame is up near the top now," he said. "The visit didn’t change anything else. Everybody else is about the same.”
Not only does Blanton not have a leader, he also doesn’t have a top five. At this point in time, he says his recruitment is wide open. One issue that doesn’t seem to be a problem is what position he will play. A cornerback in high school, it has been rumored that some schools may want him to try safety.
”Mostly everybody is recruiting me at the same spot,” Blanton reported. “Everybody wants me at corner.”
Blanton and his Butler teammates have been busy with camps and combines. They have attended the last two Michigan summer camps, but he says they aren’t sure if they will make the third trip this June. As for whether or not they are a package deal, the winning school should only hope to be so lucky.
”We haven’t really discussed it, but there is a possibility that we might go to the same spot.”
