Beachum Visits U-M, May Return Very Soon

Youngstown Cardinal Mooney linebacker/running back Brandon Beachum made it to a Michigan practice this past Tuesday ... and U-M fans may catch him back in Ann Arbor this weekend. The big question -- what about a Michigan offer?

GoBlueWolverine spoke once again with Loch Beachum, the father of Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney linebacker/running back Brandon Beachum (6-1, 210).

Here is how Mr. Beachum said things went:

"We were at Michigan on Tuesday. It went great. We were there a few hours ... from about 3:30 until 6:30."

"We watched practice, Brandon was over with the linebackers ... the practice got a little physical, but it was not all the way 'live'."

"We spent time talking with Coach Loeffler, and with Coach Carr."

"He talked with some of the players -- Mario Manninghan for one; Mario is from the Youngstown area."

"Overall, Michigan was fantastic."

"After Michigan ... we spent the whole day Wednesday at Michigan State."

Question One for Michigan fans -- what did Michigan say to Brandon about a scholarship offer?

"Michigan didn't offer Brandon yet ... but they love him. He's a Michigan guy, he belongs there, he deserves the uniform ..."

"So it was a great visit ... Michigan is a school Brandon has been interested in."

The lack of a U-M offer so far is not a concern however:

"Brandon has no timetable. There's time, not getting an offer was not a disappointment."

"He has 20-plus offers now: offers from FSU, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, PSU ... but then Michigan, Notre Dame and USC haven't offered yet."

"But it's only April, it's early, very early, so it's not that important yet who has offered or hasn't offered ... there are the combines coming up."

What is next for Brandon?

"This weekend he may go to the Michigan Spring Game. Dan McCarthy (his Mooney teammate) may go. Michael Zordich (also from Mooney) is out of town this week, but Dan is talking about going, and Brandon can catch a ride with him. I'll be out of town -- which is why we came up on Tuesday, so I could see Michigan too."

"Brandon will also go to the Penn State Nike Combine -- Coach Loeffler said he'd be there to watch him."

And Mr. Beachum gave a hint as to why they are being patient ... there are several schools they may still be waiting for offers from:

"In the end it'll come down to what's the best fit for him: Michigan, Ohio State, Florida State, Tennessee, or Wisconsin."

Even though the Beachums are being patient, Mr. Beachum reminded us that Brandon will be graduating at semester, so his timetable will be compressed.
