Dan McCarthy Visits U-M, also OSU, ND

Youngstown Cardinal Mooney DB/RB Dan McCarthy was on spring break this past week, and made the best of it -- visiting Ohio State, Notre Dame, and then capping it off by taking in Michigan's Spring Game on Saturday. GoBlueWolverine spoke to Dan about it Sunday evening.

Dan McCarthy (6-1, 190) plays a run-pass quarterback position for '06 State Champ Cardinal Mooney -- as a junior he ran for over 1,300 yards from his QB spot. But his college position: safety.

McCarthy was one of the dozen-or-so guys who received Signing Day scholarship offers from Michigan, and he attended the Michigan Junior Day this past February. then returned for Saturday's Spring Game. GoBlueWolverine spoke with McCarthy Sunday evening.

We saw you at the Michigan Spring Game on Saturday.

"Yeah, I went with my mom and dad and brother."

Ho did the visit go?

"I got to see more this time. I got to look at the campus facilities this time. This was my second visit. But when I was up for Michigan's Junior Day we had to get up there early and then go right back because we had a basketball game."

Where else have you visited, or are you planning to visit, this spring?

"I was on spring break this past week. So I visited Ohio State on Thursday, then I visited Notre Dame on Friday, and on Saturday I came over to Michigan."

Are those your top three schools?

"I don't really have a top list of schools I'd say."

What other schools might be up there for you with Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State?

"... ... ... well, I don't know. Those three are the ones I've been to."

What is your recruiting timetable?

"I'd like to make my decision before the season starts. I'll be narrowing it down over the summer."

"I'll make it back to all three schools again over the summer."

GBW note: McCarthy has a brother playing safety for Notre Dame ... so the Irish will be tough competition for him.
