Legion Released; Baker Leaving Program

At 4:15 today, GoBlueWolverine spoke with class of 2007 commitment Alex Legion and he informed us that the University of Michigan had released him from his letter of intent. We will have further details on this matter in the coming hours, including what other schools are now under consideration and where the Wolverines stand on his list. In other news, guard Reed Baker is leaving the program.

"We have had several discussions with Alex and his family and they have expressed an interest in opening his recruitment," said new Michigan coach John Beilein in an official release. "We understand his situation and encouraged him to do so, giving Alex his unconditional release. We will continue to have dialogue with Alex and his family throughout this process. With his release, he is now a prospect again and due to NCAA compliance issues we can have no further comment on the situation."

"With the fact that Reed's financial aid package had expired, he has decided to look into other options for his playing career," added Beilein. "We have encouraged Reed to do so and will do whatever we can to help him with that process. We wish him nothing but the best in the future."
