As GoBlueWolverine has noted before, Cy-Fair running back Sam McGuffie (5-11, 195, 4.3) is in frequent contact with Michigan - including Sunday afternoon.
"I talked to Fred Jackson (U-M's running backs coach, who also recruits East Texas for Michigan) this afternoon. I called him up. And then I called and talked to Coach Carr again too."
"Coach Jackson really loves me, and he tells me I'm the guy he wants, and that means a lot."
"I understand the Michigan coaches, and they understand me."
McGuffie's school year is just about over, and his track season is finished (he finished 2nd in the state in the 5-A long jump with a personal best of 23-11), and he will be taking a trip to U-M soon ... you may be surprised by what he says about it.
"I get out of school this week, and will be going up to Ann Arbor next week."
"My dad's family is from Michigan and I'm comfortable up there, in Michigan."
"Then I'm going to go back to U of U again during their camp week."
"But I have actually never been to the University of Michigan before. So I have to get up there, a couple times, and get a good look, a good feel for things, before I make any final decisions."
Stay tuned for more later this morning on McGuffie and fellow Texas star Daryl Stonum.
