Kemp Waiting on Michigan Offer

St.Louis, MO WR/TE Wes Kemp was one of the more impressive players at this past weekend's combine in Chicago. The big pass catcher spoke with GBW afterwards on his recruiting and where Michigan stands.

One of the top tight end prospects in America is DeSmet Jesuit (St. Louis, MO) star Wes Kemp. The 6'4, 225-lb Kemp has the size and pass catching ability to create match-up nightmares at the college level. In fact, he is such a good athlete that he could definitely line up as a wide receiver at the next level. It is no surprise then, that he has received interest from schools all across the country, including the Maize & Blue.

"I don't have an offer from Michigan yet," he said. "But the dead period's about to start and I've been talking to the coaches a lot and I think I might get one in the next two weeks."

Even though he is hearing from football powers from coast to coast, including Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Missouri, Kemp is high enough on the Wolverines that an offer would put them in the hunt for the big tight end's services.

"An offer from Michigan would definitely put them in my top five," he reported.

Though he has never been to campus, Kemp has followed the Wolverines closely. If the opportunity presents itself, this summer could be a fine time for him to make his first trip to Ann Arbor.

"Well, they invited me to the summer camp and I want to go. But it is a long way from Missouri. If they offered though, I would look into my options and try to make it out."

For his junior season, Kemp grabbed 42 passes for 780 yards and 8 touchdowns.
