After already having taken two trips to Ann Arbor this year, many might be wondering why Plainsboro South (Princeton Junction, NJ) LB/TE J.B. Fitzgerald will be making his way back to the Michigan next month. The answer is simple. Not everyone in his family has seen one of the top schools on his list.
“My mom will get a chance to see it this time,” Fitzgerald said. “Also, my mom and my dad are getting a tour of campus and will have the chance to learn about all of the academic offerings. I’m going to get a chance to hang out with the players and get to know some of the guys out there.”
According to Fitzgerald, he isn’t the only Garden State backer that will be in town at the time.
“I think another Jersey linebacker, Marcus Witherspoon, is going to be out there too,” he said. “Coach Szabo said he is going to be out there at that same time. I’ll probably get the chance to hang out with him and get to know him as well."
With no plans to attend camps this summer, Fitzgerald hopes to use a series of unofficial visits to help him whittle down his list. From there, a decision isn’t likely to come until well into the fall.
“I haven’t narrowed things down much yet, really,” Fitzgerald said. “I’m just looking into things right now and trying to go through this month with an open mind. After this month I’ll kind of sort through things and narrow down my list. It’s looking like I’m going to take some official visits before I make my decision.”
GoBlueWolverine will have more on Fitzgerald in a few weeks.
