UM Pulls Out Stops for Fitzgerald (Part 2)

In part two of our feature on Princeton Junction, NJ LB/TE J.B. Fitzgerald's recent visit to Michigan, he lays out his visit itinerary, discusses his favorites, and lays out a possible decision timeline. Is Michigan the team to beat?

With his third unofficial visit to Michigan now behind him, Plainsboro South (Princeton Junction, NJ) LB/TE J.B. Fitzgerald has now turned his attention to the other destinations on his summer docket.

“I have my unofficial visit plans for Florida,” he said. “My parents and I are going to be traveling down there not this weekend, but the following weekend. We’re going to check out what they have to offer. I’m pretty interested to see what the University of Florida is all about. USC…they aren’t recruiting me as hard so I don’t think we’re going to do anything with them, but we are going to be out in California so we’ll probably swing by Cal Berkeley. They’ve offered and my parents think I should take a look there and see what it’s all about.”

Whether the Garden State star will make any unofficial visits in addition to those he has already planned is still up in the air.

“There are a few schools that I think I would like to get a chance to visit, but I’m not sure if I’m going to or not,” he said. “I would like to take a trip to Michigan State just because I’ve spoken to the coaches there. They are some pretty good guys, but I don’t know if it’s a possibility. I don’t know that I’m going to be able to get out of there again. They kept trying to get me to come out this time, but I was already set up with the Michigan trip, so I didn’t want to take anything away from them.”

Fitzgerald previously mentioned his intentions of taking official visits when the fall rolls around, but it now appears that his trip calendar may wind up being fairly short.

At this point I have one official visit planned, which is my official visit to Michigan the week of the Penn State game (September 22nd),” said Fitzgerald. “I’ve checked my schedule and the schedule of the schools that I’m interested in that I might take official visits too…and Michigan would be first on the list anyway. I’m going to take that official visit for sure. I could commit that day to Michigan or I might feel like I need more official visits to get a better feel for things. We’ll see.”

“I’ll probably have a very short list of schools coming out pretty soon,” Fitzgerald continued regarding his favorites. “I talked to my parents a lot on the trip home. I think I’m definitely going to narrow it to six pretty soon…probably in the next couple of days.”
