Q & A with Nelson Rosario

The Michigan Wolverines continue to search far and wide for big wide receivers…and one of their most recent targets is (Oceanside, CA) El Camino High wideout Nelson Rosario. The two-sport standout has seen interest in his skills pick up in recent months, but do teams outside of the west coast region have a legitimate chance?

Have you been receiving interest from Michigan?

“I get letters from them a lot. Coach English came by my school like a month ago. I don’t know if they are talking about offering me right now, but they said they were interested.”

Have they talked to you about the upcoming summer camp?

“They gave me a flier for the camp and told me to see if I can come through, but it doesn’t look like I’m going to be able to. I’m going back to Florida to visit family, but other than that I think I’m going to be around here out west. I went to the USC camp last year and I’m going to the UCLA camp this year.”

You’re listed at 6-6, 218, with a 4.43 forty. Would you say that’s accurate?

“The weight may no be anymore, but I am 6-6 and I did run from 4.43.”

How many scholarship offers do you have right now?

“Twelve from places like UCLA, Oregon...it’s mostly west coast schools out here in the PAC 10.”

Is it safe to assume that you will probably attend school on the west coast?

“The way it looks, probably, but I don’t want to count out anybody on the East Coast because there’s still a good chance I could end up anywhere in the United States, you know? I want to take some visits first and then decide. I probably will be taking official visits because I don’t know that I’ll be able to go anywhere (outside the west coast) this summer. I could end up taking all five and I could end taking a few, but I want to take all five to see what’s out there.”

What are going to be the most significant factors in your choice?

“The program has to be headed off in a good direction. The team chemistry and the coaches… all of that has to be good. “

Do you have a decision timetable?

“I don’t really have a timeframe, but I see myself really deciding during the season.”
