Kapron Lewis-Moore is finding out why this is called “the dead period.” The 6’4, 225-lb defensive end from Weatherford High has received offers from schools all across the country. But as summer has heated up, he has found that his recruitment may actually be hitting the summer doldrums.
The Cardinal is interested not just because of Lewis-Moore’s pass rushing prowess, but also because of his 3.6 GPA. That said, he has found that number means different things at different places.
”With (Stanford) it’s real complicated because they have a “Stanford GPA” and mine is more like a 3.08 on that scale,” Lewis-Moore explained. “I just took the ACT and SAT though, so I’ll get those results in a few weeks.”
As far as visits go, Texas is a big state and is far away from some of the schools Lewis-Moore is considering, but his plan is to start local and work his way out from there.
” I talked to my mom yesterday and she kind of threw out the idea of seeing some local campuses,” he said. “I’ve been to SMU and we’re going to try to go to Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Baylor this summer.”
When it comes time for his official visits, it may be easier for the talented edge rusher to find his way to schools outside of Big 12 country.
”That’s I’m going to do.” Lewis Moore said. “When I can take my officials I’ll probably head out to the Midwest.”
While he doesn’t know exactly which Midwest schools he will see on those trips, he insists that he is still considering Michigan despite what may have been posted elsewhere on the World Wide Web.
”I haven’t really heard too much from Michigan lately,” he reported, “but I’ve read on some blogs that I’m not interested in them. That isn’t true at all.”
GoBlueWolverine will have more on Lewis-Moore in the coming months.
