BigTenRon's Weekly Picks

While Michigan lost at Notre Dame, the Big Ten's other big boppers stepped up with impressive victories a week ago. Penn State drilled Nebraska. Ohio State ran roughshod over Washington State. Can Michigan State bounce back from a stinging loss to continue the trend?

Ron Kremer's picks for Saturday, Sept. 21

Michigan 27, Utah 12: Both teams are angry because both missed opportunities to win a week ago. Both saw crucial calls go against them. Michigan will prevail here on the strength of its offensive line and running game.

Ohio State 31, Cincinnati 14: The Buckeyes might be without freshman sensation Maurice Clarett (knee injury). They won't be without motivation playing against an in-state rival.

Notre Dame 24, Michigan State 20: The Spartans will have the best pitch-and-catch tandem. The Irish will have the best ground game. Look for the Leprechaun to run the ball and run out MSU's luck in this series.

Penn State 37, Louisiana Tech 10: The Nittany Lions won the last meeting 67-7 in 2000. They'll settle for a smaller margin this time, if only because of an emotional drop after their huge win over Nebraska.

Illinois 34, San Jose State 21: Illini have settled on QB Jon Beutjer. Now, they need to build momentum for the start of the Big Ten race.

Purdue 42, Wake Forest 21: The Boilermakers dodged a bullet vs. Western Michigan; they'll put up a ton of points in this one.

Iowa 28, Utah State 7: Hawkeyes are smarting from second-half collapse against Iowa State. They'll take out frustrations on Utah State.

Wisconsin 27, Arizona 20: Badgers play their straight home game and play with more enthusiasm than a week ago in ugly win vs. Northern Illinois.

Minnesota 49, Buffalo 10: The Gophers look to go 4-0. But keep that under your hat. They haven't played anybody.

Northwestern 29, Navy 21: Wildcats beat Duke and now have a chance to reach the .500 mark. Who woulda thunk it?

Central Michigan 19, Indiana 17: Chippewas have an experienced squad and look to score a big victory for the MAC.
