RB Sam McGuffie on Summer Trip 'Home'

Houston Cy-Fair running back Sam McGuffie is making his only summer unofficial visit of the summer -- to the University of Michigan this weekend.

Houston Cy-Fair running back Sam McGuffie is at the University of Michigan this weekend.

He arrived on Thursday, and returns home on Monday.

He flew up by himself.

Sam's father is from Lapeer, Michigan, in the "Thumb" of Michigan, and the dad attended current U-M great Jake Long's school, Lapeer East. But Sam, although he'd been to Michigan before to visit family, had never been on the U-M campus.

Michigan has been one of McGuffie's top favorites since last winter, but he told GoBlueWolverine on Wednesday, "I have to get up there to see the place before I can make any decisions."

There are several freshman Wolverine East-Texans and Houstonians on campus to spend time with McGuffie: quarterback Ryan Mallett, and Houston Dulles guys Brandon Herron and Troy Woolfolk.

In addition, Dulles wide receiver Daryl Stonum is set to announce his wide college decision tomorrow, Sunday, or soon after.

McGuffie seems to observers to be Michigan's number one recruiting target at running back -- and with good reason.

As a junior the 5-11, 195 blazer with the 4.3 sec. 40 rushed for over 3,200 yards and scored 44 touchdowns.

McGuffie reports a 3.0 core GPA and a 22 ACT.
