McGuffie to Fred Smith: "Come to Michigan"

Michigan's newest commit has already been on the horn recruiting for the Maize & Blue. Sam McGuffie has been working the phones in his first full day as a Wolverine, and one of his first calls went to Detroit Southeastern WR Fred Smith. The talented pass catcher informed GoBlueWolverine that he was delivered a very clear message.

The Michigan Wolverines just picked up another ally to help them in their pursuit of Detroit Southeastern wideout Fred Smith.  The Maize & Blue already had Smith's family putting in a good word.  Now new running back commitment Sam McGuffie has joined the party.

"He just called me," Smith told GoBlueWolverine earlier this afternoon.  "He was talking about how (Michigan) had a real good recruiting class.  He said he thinks I should come to there with him."

Today's conversation marked the first time the two coveted prospects spoke to one another.  After a Smith's favorable first impression of McGuffie, chances are they will chat again in the very near future.

"That was my first time talking to him, but I had seen his tape so I knew who he was," Smith said.  "He said he had seen my tape too.  I was just telling my brother that (McGuffie) seemed real cool.  He seems like somebody I could vibe with.  He's got a bunch of flavor!"

Smith's impression of McGuffie's highlight tape was just as glowing.

"He was cold in the tape I saw," Smith exclaimed!  "He was jumping over people's heads and stuff!"

GoBlueWolverine will have more on Smith in the coming days.
