Hot RB Mike Cox Visits Ann Arbor

Avon (CT) Old Farms RB Mike Cox is one of the best prospects in the East not getting a lot of attention. The big running back has a blend of size and speed that has schools from up and down the coast recruiting him. One team in Big Ten country who saw his talent was the Michigan Wolverines, and this weekend Cox visited Ann Arbor ... did he leave with an offer?

After averaging 10 yards a carry his junior season and scoring 16 touchdowns, Mike Cox has heard from many schools. Maryland, Boston College, Duke and Connecticut have already offered him, and Penn State and Michigan also have been recruiting him.

Cox turned heads in Ann Arbor when he came to the Wolverine Technique School (The Michigan Camp) this summer … and this past weekend he took a visit back to campus.

"It went well," Cox told GoBlueWolverine of the visit, "I met Coach Carr and Coach Jackson and I went on a tour."

By the time he left, the Wolverines had become the fifth school to offer the Avon Old Farms back.

"Coach Carr offered me," he reported. "We didn't talk about any other positions -- they want me as a running back."

The 6-0, 205-pound Cox runs his forty yard dash in the mid-4.4's and has a 36-inch vertical jump. With those kind of testing numbers along with his impressive junior statistics, Cox would be quite the catch for any team. So just when does that lucky team find out?

"I'll either decide before the end of summer or right around mid-September," he reported.

As for the Wolverines' standing he said: "They are definitely one of my favorites ... but I don't really have a favorite right now."
