Notre Dame returned the kickoff to the ND 18. The opening snap went over Clausen's head to the ND goal line. ND went 3 and out.
Greg Mathews took the punt at the ND 45 at the 13:25 mark. After getting one first down, Gingell kicked a 39 yard field goal at the 10:53 mark.

Notre Dame took the ensuing kickoff at the ND 35. On second down Clausen fumbled the ball back to the ND 21 at the 10:11 mark. Five plays later, helped by a pass interference call in the end zone, Michigan scored the TD at the 7:34 mark.

Notre Dame ran back the ensuing kickoff at the ND 41.
After one first down, ND again snapped the ball over Clausen's head for a 14 yard loss to the ND 40. On 3rd down he was sacked by Shawn Crable back to the ND 34.
Mathews took the punt at the U-M 22 at the 4:17 mark. U-M got 1 first down then punted from the U-M 34 at the 1:50 mark.
After a flag on the return, ND started at their own 25 at the 1:38 mark.
On first down Clausen was sacked by Jamison to the ND 20. After a first down, ND fumbled to U-M at the U-M 38 at the :01 mark.
On the 2nd play at the U-M 37, a pass interference gave U-M a first down at the ND 25. On the next play Mallett hit Arrington for a 23 yard pass at the U-M 2. And on the next play Hart ran it in for the score at the 14:39 mark.

Notre Dame took the kickoff to the ND 27. After a 2st down to the ND 42, U-M sacked Clausen to the ND 37 on 2nd down, and on 3rd down Johnny Thompson intercepted it at the ND 48 at the 12:56 mark. After a 9 and 14 yard run by Hart, and an incomplete throw-back to Mallett, Mallett hit Mathews for a 26 yard TD on a crossing route over the middle at the 11:34 mark.
Michigan 24, Notre Dame 0
ND took the kickoff to the 34. On first down there was intentional grounding ... but on 4th ND went for it with a fake punt and got a 1st down at the ND 45. Then on 2nd down Crable made a tackle for loss. On 3rd down Crable sacked Clausen at the ND 37.
Mathews took the punt from the U-M 12 to the U-M 22 at the 8:24 mark. Michigan got 3 first downs but the drive stalled at the ND 37 at the 5:25 mark. Mesko punted it to the ND 9 at the 5:10 mark.
Notre Dame went 3 and out, getting stopped on a 3rd and 1.
U-M fielded the punt at the U-M 44 at the 2:57 mark. Michigan got 4 first downs, as Hart ran for 11 to the ND 45 at the 2:50 mark, Hart ran for 9 to the ND 36 at the 2:27 mark, Minor ran for 9 to the ND 24, 2 plays later Hart ran for 9 to the ND 11 at the :57 mark. Then on second down, Mallett hit Arrington for a 6 yard TD at the :25 mark.

Notre Dame had 11 yards total, 48 passing and -45 rushing.
Mike Hart rushed 26 times for 135 yards and 2 TDs.
Ryan Mallett was 5-12 for 73 yards and 2 TDs.
Notre Dame had 3 turnovers ... Michigan punted once.

Michigan took the ball at their own 21 at the 9:05 mark of the 3rd quarter. Sticking to the ground, U-M got 4 first downs, highlighted by two Hart runs of 12 yards and a Minor run of 10. Then on a 3rd down from the ND 13, Mallett hit Manningham with a pass in the corner of the end zone at the 4:55 mark.

Notre Dame had 79 yards total, 85 passing and -6 rushing.
Mike Hart rushed 35 times for 190 yards and 2 TDs.
Ryan Mallett was 7-15 for 90 yards and 3 TDs.
Michigan recorded 8 sacks for the day, including 2 by Crable and 3.5 by Brandon Graham ... Crable also recorded 5 tackles for loss and B-Graham had 4.
U-M and ND each lost 2 fumbles, but u-M also recorded 2 interceptions.
