Northwestern started at their 20. On the first play the Northwestern receiver broke a tackle and took it 64 yards to the U-M 16. There the drive died and NW made a 27 yard field goal at the 12:50 mark.

U-M started, with Chad Henne at QB, at their own 35 at the 12:45 mark. U-M got 2 first downs on a 15 yard completion to Adrian Arrington to the 50, then a 13 yard completion to Mario Manningham to the NW 36. U-M was stopped at the NW 30 on 4th down, but NW had a 15 yard face mask penalty to the NW 15. On the second play, Henne completed a 10 yard touchdown to Manningham at the 8:57 mark.
Michigan 7, Northwestern 3
Northwestern took the ensuing kickoff to their own 19 and went 3 and out.
U-M bounced a punt to the U-M 42. Ryan Mallett took over at quarterback. U-M went 3 and out.
NW took the punt at the NW 13 at the 6:59 mark. NW got 2 first downs, the 2nd on a 31 yard completion to the U-M 46, then had a 49 yard TD run at the 2:52 mark.
Northwestern 10, Michigan 7
U-M took the ensuing kickoff to the U-M 23. U-M went 3 and out as Mallett was sacked.
U-M took the punt to the NW 36 at the 1:35 mark. NW got a first down then made a 49 yard field goal at the 14:48 mark.
Northwestern 13, Michigan 7
U-M took the ball at their own 20. U-M got 1 first down, but a holding call cost them and they had to punt.
NW took the punt from the NW 19 to the NW 26. NW got 3 first downs then punted from the U-M 39.
U-M started at their own 20 at the 9:07 mark, and went 3 and out.
NW took the punt at their own 40 at the 7:46 mark.
NW got a first down on a 26 yard completion to the U-M 34, but then Trent intercepted the ball at the U-M 24 at the 6:01 mark. U-M got 3 first downs on a 13 yard completion to Arrington at the U-M 38, a 30 yard completion to Manningham to the NW 32, a 16 yard scrambling completion to the NW 16. But U-M missed a 27 yard field goal.
NW started at their 20 at the 2:35 mark. After 4 first downs NW got to the U-M 21 and the clock with half a minute left in the half. Northwestern kicked a 27 yard field goal as time ran out.

U-M gained 153 yards (115 passing, 38 yards running) yards, NW 308 yards (213 passing, 95 running).

Ryan Mallett: 5-11, 67 yards.
Michigan took the kickoff to the 22 yard line. U-M got 3 first downs on a 14 yard completion to Mario to the U-M 36, a 12 yard completion to Mario to the U-M 48, a 9 yard completion to Greg Mathews to the NW 38. But the drive stalled and Zoltan Mesko punted it to the NW 9 at the mark.
NW started from the NW 9 and got 3 first downs, but punted form the NW 45.
U-M started at their own 23 at the 9:23 mark. U-M got 4 first downs on a 17 yard run by Hart, a 23 yard completion to Arrington to the NW 17, a 7 yard completion to Mathews to the 10 ... and 9 yard TD pass to Carson Butler at the 5:45 mark.
Northwestern 16, Michigan 14
NW took the kickoff to the NW 28. NW got 2 first downs on a 23 yard pass completion to the NW 48, and an 18 yard completion to the U-M 39. There the drive stalled, at NW punted it to the U-M 5 at the 1:17 mark.
U-M started at their own 5, and got 2 first downs on a 16 yard completion to Manningham to the U-M 26, and 8 yard completion to Mathews to the U-M 36 ... where the drive stalled at the 13:28 mark.
NW took the punt at the NW 1. After a first down on a 22 yard completion to the NW 23, Brandon Graham created a fumble that Shawn Crable recovered at the NW 16 at the 10:42 mark. On 3rd down Henne threw a 16 yard TD pass to Arrington at the 9:53 mark.
Michigan 21, Northwestern 16
NW too the kickoff to the NW 33. Nw god 2 first downs on a 10 yard completion to the NW 49, and a 11 yard completion to the U-M 37. But Tim Jamison picked off a tipped ball and returned it to the NW 21 at the 7:40 mark.
Michigan could not move the ball, and U-M missed a 38 yard field goal at the 5:55 mark.
NW took over at their own 22 with 5:55 left to play. On 3rd down Obianna Ezeh intercepted it and returned it to the NW 26 at the 5:20 mark.
Hart had a 24 yard run to the NW 2. And on the next play U-M scored at the 4:31 mark.
Michigan 28, Northwestern 16
Northwestern returned the kickoff 51 yards to the U-M 45. But they could not move the ball.
U-M 385 yards (255 passing, 130 yards running) yards, NW 402 yards (290 passing, 112 running incl. just 17 in the 2nd half).
Hart: 30 carries for 104 yards and a TD.
Mallett: 5-11, 67 yards.
Henne: 18-27 for 193 yards and 3 TD's.
Northwestern had 5 turnovers (including in 4 possessions in a row in the 2nd half), 3 interceptions and 2 fumbles. U-M had no turnovers.
