Michigan battles Michigan State for the Paul Bunyan Trophy this afternoon at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing. How will the Wolverines fair as they attempt to move to 6-0 in conference play before finishing with Wisconsin and Ohio State?

Michigan battles Michigan State for the Paul Bunyan Trophy at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing this afternoon. What are the staff predictions for the Wolverines big rival game?

Tom Beaver
The games at Spartan Stadium are close, 5 of the past 6 decided by a TD or less. Today, U-M has Henne operating with a sore shoulder, a healthy-Hart, a banged up interior OL (watch for Mitchell - he may play), an improving defense... and momentum. MSU has some talent but is performing their usual midseason-swoon-dive.

We don't see MSU pulling this one out, but Mallett might have to come off the bench and be effective ... can he?
Prediction: 23-17 Michigan with Henne, 20-17 Michigan with Mallett.

Bret Osburn
Michigan State is going to come out ready to fight this afternoon. Needing just one more win to finish bowl eligible, look for the Spartans to throw everything in the book at the Wolverines as they try and snap a losing streak that spans five years. Despite that, new Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio doesn't have the horses to get the Green and White past Michigan this season.
Prediction: 27-17 Michigan
