Van Dyke to Make Unofficial Visit

Marshall, Mich.'s All-American DL Doug Van Dyke talks about his visit plans, his season -- and he gives us his favorite! He also gives a 'heads up' on his star underclassman teammate.

Yours truly talked Monday night to All-American defensive lineman Doug Van Dyke (2002 Michigan camper, 6-4, 245 lbs., 4.8 in the 40, 2.4 GPA/21 ACT) from Marshall, Mich. First we asked him whether he had scheduled any official visits.

"Not yet."

How about unofficial visits?

"I've gone to Michigan and Purdue, and I'm going to Michigan again, probably for the Michigan State game -- it'll be an unofficial visit."

Do you have a leader?

"Oh, it is probably Michigan. I know there is talk going 'round about Purdue and Nebraska. I'll take all five visits: Michigan, Nebraska, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Ohio State."

How's your season going?

"We've made the playoffs, we're 6-1. I have eight sacks and 12 tackles-for-loss."

Van Dyke has mentioned the Marshall quarterback to us a couple times now:

"Our quarterback is sophomore Evan Sharpley. He's awesome; he's thrown for 20 touchdowns. He's about 6-3, 190 lbs. He's got to be one of the top ten quarterbacks in his class."

Van Dyke is TheInsiders' #81 prospect. He is the younger brother of former MSU quarterback Ryan Van Dyke.
