Dre's Blog: Morgan Offered; Legion Out?

Michigan headman John Beilein recently stepped up the recruitment of another in-state big man when he extended an offer to U of D Jesuit PF, Jordan Morgan. Meanwhile, further south, news recently broke that former Michigan commit Alex Legion had decided to transfer from the University of Kentucky. Are the Wolverines be in the running?

After months of evaluation, Michigan coach John Beilein decided to take the plunge with Jordan Morgan Wednesday evening when he offered the 6-9 245 pound power forward a scholarship.

“It is something I have been looking forward to,” Jordan told GoBlueWolverine. “Me and my dad were very excited when Coach Beilein offered me the scholarship. My mom was sleep at the time, so we went out and got some sparkling cider and chocolate and put it together with some Michigan gear and put it on the table. We woke my mom up and she was wondering about what was on the table and then we told her about the offer she was very happy as well.”

Things began to fall into place after Beilein cancelled a Monday practice visit and decided instead to go see the versatile youngster play in a game on Tuesday. It was clear during a conversation the next day the Michigan’s headman really liked what he had seen.

“Coach Beilein told me he liked the way I passed the ball and the way I played,” Morgan recalled. “I think I showed him what I could do. I did what I needed to for my team to get the win. I can fit into that offense (at Michigan) and be a forward in it.”

Though extremely happy with his Michigan offer, Morgan (who also holds offers from Xavier and Oakland) plans to take his time with the recruiting process. He wants to be sure he has a full accounting of all of the schools interested in him before determining the best possible fit.
